Seventeen is too young to leave this world. Yet, families across Scotland are once again picking up the pieces after a devastating road tragedy on the Aberdeenshire coast claimed the life of teenage motorcyclist Kayden Thompson.

The single-vehicle crash happened on the B9031 road connecting Macduff to Fraserburgh, near the coastal village of Pennan, at around 5.30pm on a Monday. Kayden was riding a black Honda CB500 when the accident occurred. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the young rider was sadly pronounced dead right there.

Heartbroken Tributes From the Family

Police Scotland released a heartfelt statement on behalf of Kayden’s grieving family. They are completely shattered.

"We are devastated at the loss of our deeply loved son, brother, grandson and nephew, Kayden," the family shared. They noted how much he will be missed by everyone who knew him, especially those closest to home.

Known affectionately to his loved ones as Kayda and K, the family added a poignant final tribute: "Forever 17 and forever Dawn and Alan's little boy."

The Ongoing Police Investigation

Local authorities are still trying to piece together exactly what happened on that stretch of the B9031. Sergeant Pete Henderson of Police Scotland's Road Policing Unit stated that officers' thoughts remain firmly with Kayden’s family and friends during this brutal time.

Inquiries are active. Investigators are relying heavily on public help to understand the full circumstances surrounding the single-vehicle incident.

Police have made a direct appeal for witnesses, urging anyone who saw the black Honda CB500 prior to the crash or captured relevant dash-cam footage to step forward.
