The Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena has organized a fundraising campaign aimed at supporting their programs during the COVID-19 health crisis. For over 80 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena has provided safe places for kids and teens.

“We are doing whatever it takes right now to stand with our club families and the Pasadena community. We have created a ‘Virtual BGCP’ on our website that’s accessible to all, with engaging, age-appropriate after-school programming and interactive homework help daily. We’re also helping families in other ways, like delivering meals and groceries to quarantined families, and calling all of our families to make sure they’re OK and connect them with community resources,” said Lisa Cavelier, CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of Pasadena.

All donations raised during this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar from one of the club’s board members up to $10,000. Funds will be used to expand the “Virtual BGCP” after-school program offerings and for continued support and outreach to club families. Key partners in the club’s campaign include the Kirby-Jones Foundation, the Rotary Club of Pasadena, Pete Kutzer and Patrick Chraghchian, and numerous club board members.

The COVID-19 Relief Fund will also enable club doors to re-open so that they can continue to provide out-of-school time programs to current members and the local community. With unemployment on the rise and the long-term economic impact of COVID-19 unknown, young people will need to be equipped more than ever with the essential skills to achieve success in school, enter college, and successfully join the workforce. Also, when the club re-opens, there is a concern that mental health resources will be needed to help youth as they transition out of this difficult time.
